Beloved brothers and sisters, today we will reflect on one of the greatest treasures that God’s Word invites us to seek: wisdom. In a world full of information, opinions, and shortcuts, biblical wisdom stands out as a safe guide for living rightly, honestly, and victoriously. The Bible shows us that choosing wisdom is choosing life.
1. The Value of Wisdom
Wisdom is not just human knowledge, but the fear of the Lord that leads us to make the right decisions.
-
Proverbs 3:13-15 – “Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.”
The Bible shows that wisdom is more valuable than material riches. Whoever has wisdom knows how to manage resources, deal with people, and even avoid unnecessary suffering.
2. Wisdom Gives Us Direction and Protection
How many times have we made wrong decisions because we lacked discernment? Wisdom keeps us from traps and helps us stay on the right path.
-
Proverbs 4:6-7 – “Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”
When we choose wisdom, God gives us clarity to see beyond appearances, avoiding mistakes and frustrations.
3. Wisdom Brings Prosperity and Long Life
Biblical wisdom is not limited to the spiritual life; it also impacts every area of life: family, work, relationships, and even health.
-
Proverbs 3:16 – “Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.”
-
James 1:5 – “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
God is ready to pour out wisdom on those who seek it humbly.
4. The Example of Solomon
When God appeared to Solomon in a dream, offering him anything he wanted, Solomon did not ask for riches or victory over enemies, but for wisdom to govern the people.
-
1 Kings 3:9-12 – “So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. (...) I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.”
Because Solomon chose wisdom, God also gave him riches and honor.
Conclusion
Beloved, the advantage of choosing wisdom is that it leads us to a full, blessed, and protected life in God. The world values quick success, but the Word of God shows us that true success comes from wise decisions guided by the Holy Spirit.
May we seek wisdom every day, not as something optional, but as an essential treasure for the Christian life.
Let's pray:
Pray like this:
“Lord, teach me to value wisdom more than the riches of this world. Give me an understanding heart to discern right from wrong and to live according to Your will. Guide me by Your Spirit in all my decisions. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
