(Numbers 23:19)
Key Verse:
“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” — Numbers 23:19
Introduction
We live in a world where human promises are often broken. People promise love, loyalty, or help — yet fail. But the God of the Bible is completely faithful. He never lies, never changes, and never goes back on His word. Numbers 23:19 reminds us of this eternal truth: when God speaks, He fulfills.
1. God does not lie
Balaam’s words were meant to show Balak that no word from God ever fails. Unlike man, God doesn’t change His mind out of fear, emotion, or circumstance. When He makes a promise, it’s because He already sees the end from the beginning.
Human lies bring confusion and pain, but divine truth brings peace and confidence. We can rest in His promises.
2. God does not change
“Nor a son of man, that He should repent.” — God’s character is unchanging. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The promises He made to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and David reflect the same love and faithfulness He shows to us today.
Even when we fail, God remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
3. God fulfills what He promises
The verse ends with two powerful rhetorical questions: “Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” — The answer is a resounding no!
What God has promised, He will accomplish — even if it takes time. Joseph waited years to see his dreams fulfilled. Israel waited centuries for the Messiah. We, too, can wait in faith because God’s promises never fail.
Conclusion
When doubt tries to enter your heart, remember Numbers 23:19.
God is faithful. He keeps His word.
The timing may seem delayed, but God’s clock is never late. What He promised for your life, He will fulfill — at the perfect time and in the perfect way.
🙏 Let's pray?
Lord our God,
Thank You because You are faithful and true. In a world full of uncertainty, we can rely on Your promises. Teach us to wait with patience and faith, knowing that You never fail. Let every promise You’ve spoken come to pass in our lives, so that Your name may be glorified.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
