Jesus Calms the Storm

📖 Base Texts:

  • Mark 4:35–41
  • Matthew 8:23–27
  • Luke 8:22–25

Introduction

Life is full of storms. Some are external—illness, financial struggles, loss. Others are internal—anxiety, fear, and uncertainty.

Just like the disciples faced a real storm, we face emotional and spiritual storms.

🌪️ 1. Storms are inevitable

Being with Jesus does not mean a life without problems.

📖 John 16:33

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

😨 2. Fear makes us forget who is in the boat

When fear rises, we forget God's promises and feel alone.

📖 Psalm 46:1
📖 Isaiah 41:10

✝️ 3. Jesus has authority over every storm

Jesus said: “Peace, be still!” — and the storm stopped.

📖 Philippians 4:6–7

🌅 4. After the storm comes peace

Storms are temporary. God uses them to strengthen us.

📖 Psalm 30:5
📖 Romans 8:28

🚤 5. Application

If you feel lost today, remember:

  • Jesus is in your boat
  • He is in control
  • The storm is not your end

🙏Let's pray,

Lord God,

In the middle of life’s storms, we often feel afraid and lost. But today we declare that You are with us.

Calm the winds, Lord.
Silence our fears.
Bring peace to our hearts.

Teach us to trust You even when we don’t understand.
Strengthen our faith in difficult times.

And when the storm passes, help us recognize that it was Your hand that carried us through.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
