1 Corinthians 9:24
"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize."
🎯 Introduction
The Christian life is not a standstill journey…
It is compared to a race.
This is not just any race:
- It is not short
- It is not easy
- And it is not for those who quit halfway
But it is a race with an eternal prize: Heaven.
🏁 1. The race requires a decision
No one enters a race by accident.
You must choose to run.
📖 Hebrews 12:1
"Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."
👉 This means:
- Letting go of sin
- Laying aside every weight
- Choosing to follow Christ daily
Application:
Have you decided to run, or are you still standing at the starting line?
💪 2. The race requires perseverance
In the Christian life, there will be:
- Tiredness
- Struggles
- Trials
But the one who wins is not the fastest…
It is the one who does not give up.
📖 Galatians 6:9
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest."
👉 Many start well…
But few remain until the end.
Application:
Are you tired? Keep going! God sees your perseverance.
👀 3. The race requires focus
Those who run do not look back…
Nor to the sides…
They look to the goal!
📖 Philippians 3:13-14
"Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal."
👉 The Christian’s goal is not:
- Money
- Fame
- Earthly success
👉 The goal is eternal life with Christ.

What has been taking your focus away?
👑 4. The prize of the race is eternal
Unlike races in this world…
Our prize is not a medal that fades.
📖 2 Timothy 4:7-8
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness."
👉 The prize is:
- Heaven
- The presence of God
- Eternal life
And the best part:
Everyone who perseveres will receive the prize!
⚠️ 5. Do not stop halfway
Many people:
- Start with excitement
- But stop because of difficulties
📖 Matthew 24:13
"The one who stands firm to the end will be saved."
👉 It does not matter:
- If you have fallen
- If you have failed
👉 What matters is:
Get up and keep running!
🙌 Conclusion
The question today is not:
👉 "Did you start the race?"
The question is:
👉 "Will you finish it?"
Heaven is the prize…
But only those who remain faithful until the end will receive it.

Today, God is calling you:
- To leave stagnation
- To return to the race

"Lord, strengthen us in this race of faith.
