1. What is Hope According to the Bible?
In the biblical context, hope (bitalon in Hebrew, elpis in Greek) signifies a confident waiting and a conviction of expectation. It is not an uncertainty, but a guarantee that God's promises will be fulfilled, regardless of current circumstances. It serves as an anchor for the soul.

2. Why Should We Have Hope?
We must maintain hope because it connects us to the future that God has beautifully designed for us. Without it, our spiritual life withers. Hope provides the necessary strength to endure present sufferings, knowing that pain does not have the final word. Furthermore, our hope glorifies God, demonstrating our absolute trust in His power and unconditional love.

3. Losing Hope vs. Maintaining Hope
When we lose hope: the heart grows sick. The absence of perspective and vision breeds depression, despair, and spiritual paralysis. We lose our focus: We begin to look exclusively at the magnitude of our problems, completely forgetting the greatness of our God.

When we maintain hope, we receive spiritual renewal: We are continuously strengthened to keep walking, even when passing through deserts.

4. Biblical Examples of People of Hope
Abraham: He hoped against all human hope. Even in his old age, he believed God would grant him a son,
ultimately becoming the father of many nations (Romans 4:18).
Joseph of Egypt: He spent years as a slave and a prisoner, yet he preserved his hope in the dreams God had given him. In due time, he was elevated to governor of Egypt.
The Woman with the Issue of Blood: She suffered for 12 long years and spent everything she owned, but she kept the hope that if she could only touch the hem of Jesus' garment, she would be healed (Mac 5:25-34).
Jesus Christ: Our supreme example. He endured the cross for the joy and hope set before him—the certainty of bringing us salvation (Hebrews 12:2).
