Many times, we bring our requests to God with faith, but at the same time, we remain anxious and restless, as if he were unable or unwilling to answer. It’s like handing something over to someone and then, minutes later, taking it back—showing a lack of trust.
The Word of God teaches us that when we pray and ask for something, we must truly surrender, fully trust, and peacefully rest in the Lord, knowing that He is faithful to fulfill His promises.

1. Surrender: Placing it in God’s hands

The first step is to surrender everything that worries us to the Lord.

• Psalm 37:5 – “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will do this.”

• 1 Peter 5:7 – “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

To surrender means to give up control and recognize that God knows what is best. It requires humility and submission.

Muitas vezes, levamos nossas petições a Deus com fé, mas, ao mesmo tempo, ficamos ansiosos e inquietos, como se Ele não fosse capaz ou não estivesse disposto a responder. É como entregar algo nas mãos de alguém e, minutos depois, pegar de volta, demonstrando falta de confiança.
A Palavra de Deus nos ensina que, ao orarmos e pedirmos algo, precisamos entregar totalmente, confiar plenamente e descansar tranquilamente no Senhor, sabendo que Ele é fiel para cumprir.

1. Entregar: Colocar nas mãos de Deus

O primeiro passo é entregar verdadeiramente ao Senhor tudo o que nos preocupa.

• Salmo 37:5 – “Entrega o teu caminho ao Senhor, confia nele, e o mais ele fará.”

Introduction:

We are living in times when many sermons preached from the pulpit are designed to please the audience, soothing their egos with promises of blessings and prosperity. Although God's Word brings comfort and hope, its main purpose is to transform lives, confronting sin, calling for repentance, and leading us to holiness.

True preaching is not about saying what people want to hear, but what they need to hear. And what we need to hear is not always comfortable—but it is liberating.

1. God’s Word Is Not Meant to Please People

"Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ."
— Galatians 1:10 (NIV)

Paul reminds us that the true preacher is not called to please the crowd. His mission is to deliver God’s truth. When a church or preacher seeks applause more than transformation, they’ve lost the focus of the Gospel.

2. The Truth Must Be Spoken, Even If It Hurts

Vivemos tempos em que muitas mensagens pregadas nos púlpitos buscam agradar os ouvintes, massageando seus egos com promessas de bênçãos e prosperidade. Embora a Palavra de Deus traga consolo e promessas, seu principal propósito é transformar vidas, nos confrontando com o pecado, nos chamando ao arrependimento e nos conduzindo à santidade.

A verdadeira pregação não é sobre o que queremos ouvir, mas sobre o que precisamos ouvir. E o que precisamos ouvir, nem sempre é confortável, mas é libertador.

1. A Palavra de Deus não é para agradar os homens

"Porventura procuro eu agora o favor dos homens ou o de Deus? Ou procuro agradar a homens? Se estivesse ainda agradando a homens, não seria servo de Cristo."
— Gálatas 1:10

Paulo nos lembra que o pregador verdadeiro não tem como missão agradar o público. Sua missão é transmitir a verdade de Deus. Quando uma igreja ou um pregador se preocupa mais com aplausos do que com transformação de vidas, ela perdeu o foco do Evangelho.

"Porque virá tempo em que não suportarão a sã doutrina; mas, tendo coceira nos ouvidos, acumularão mestres para si, segundo as suas próprias cobiças."

Esse tempo já chegou. Muitos buscam pregadores que apenas confirmem seus desejos e estilo de vida, e rejeitam a doutrina que confronta. Mas a Palavra de Deus é como espada de dois gumes (Hebreus 4:12), que penetra até o mais profundo do ser, revelando o que precisa ser mudado.

3. Arrependimento é o início da transformação

"Arrependei-vos, pois, e convertei-vos, para que sejam apagados os vossos pecados, e venham assim os tempos de refrigério pela presença do Senhor."

Sem arrependimento, não há verdadeira conversão. Uma pregação que só fala de vitória, mas não fala de pecado, está enganando seu público. Jesus começou Seu ministério com um chamado claro:

"Arrependei-vos, porque é chegado o reino dos céus."
— Mateus 4:17

4. Santidade é o caminho do cristão

"Segui a paz com todos, e a santificação, sem a qual ninguém verá o Senhor."

A prosperidade pode ser uma bênção de Deus, mas não é o centro do Evangelho. Deus nos chama à santidade. A pregação bíblica precisa desafiar os ouvintes a se separarem do pecado, a viverem uma vida pura e irrepreensível diante de Deus.

5. O exemplo de Jesus: verdade com amor

"Eu os repreendo e disciplino porque os amo. Por isso, seja zeloso e arrependa-se."
— Apocalipse 3:19

Jesus amava as pessoas, mas nunca deixou de confrontá-las. Ele falou com amor, mas com firmeza. Ele não disse à mulher adúltera "continue assim", mas:

"Vai e não peques mais" (João 8:11).

O amor verdadeiro corrige. A pregação inspirada por Deus não é para agradar, mas para salvar.

A igreja precisa voltar à pregação que transforma, que confronta o pecado, que chama ao arrependimento e santidade. O Evangelho não é um produto para atrair consumidores. É a poderosa mensagem de salvação que nos livra da condenação eterna.

True conversion goes beyond an emotional decision or simply attending church. It involves a deep transformation brought about by the Holy Spirit in a person’s heart. In this message, we’ll reflect on five key characteristics that reveal a true conversion, according to the Word of God.

1. Genuine Repentance

• True conversion begins with sincere repentance.

• It's not just remorse or momentary sadness but a decision to turn away from sin.

We live in a world where many people are imprisoned—not just behind physical bars, but also chained by addictions, fears, traumas, sins, spiritual oppression, and even illness. The good news of the Gospel is that Jesus has the power to set us free from all these chains.

1. 🛑 Spiritual Chains: Jesus sets us free from sin and death

📖 Romans 6:6-7

“For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.”

📖 Colossians 1:13-14

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

🔎 Comment: The greatest prison humanity faces is sin. But Jesus, through the cross and resurrection, rescued us from this captivity, offering forgiveness and new life.

“The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains […] Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared […] and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.”
